MIGRAZIONI AFRICANE: NUOVI SVILUPPI E TENDENZE DELLA RICERCA

Cresce il rilievo delle migrazioni nell’agenda internazionale ed anche organizzazioni che non avevano mai affrontato direttamente il tema, cominciano a farlo. È il caso di UNU-WIDER, autorevole istituto di ricerca delle Nazioni Unite sull’economia dello sviluppo, con sede principale a Helsinki. Il 5 e 6 ottobre scorsi, WIDER ha organizzato ad Accra (Ghana), in cooperazione con ARUA, un importante convegno su “Migration and mobility – New frontiers for research and policy”, che ha riunito oltre ottanta studiosi e ricercatori, africani e non. Il ricco materiale prodotto – sessanta paper  e una ventina di poster – testimonia l’esistenza di un cantiere transnazionale e interdisciplinare in pieno sviluppo. FIERI ha contributo a questo evento con una relazione di FP, ora diventata un working paper.

MIGRATION IN AND FROM AFRICA: INSIGHTS FROM UNU-WIDER CONFERENCE

While migration gains ever more salience on the international agenda, even organisations that had never focused specifically on the topic start doing so. It is the case of UNU-WIDER, the Helsinki-based United Nations World Institute for Development Economics Research that has just organised a major conference on “Migration and mobility – New frontiers for research and policy”. Strongly focused on migration in and from Africa, the conference has brought together over eighty scholars and researchers from Africa and beyond. The rich proceedings (sixty papers and more than twenty posters) reveal a vibrant and expanding transnational and multi-disciplinary field of scholarship and research. FIERI has contributed to this important event with a presentation by Ferruccio Pastore, that has now become a working paper.
