IT L’obiettivo generale della ricerca, finanziata nell’ambito del Bando 2008 per la ricerca scientifica della Regione Piemonte, è quello di creare un confronto sistematico tra la consistente ondata migratoria interna del passato (per lo più dal sud Italia) e le migrazioni straniere in Piemonte negli ultimi decenni, in modo da far luce sui processi di integrazione delle famiglie migranti e, in particolar modo, delle ‘seconde generazioni’. La ricerca parte dal presupposto che le migrazioni sono un processo a lungo termine che porta con sé numerosi effetti non solo sulle vite degli individui ma anche sull’educazione e sulle carriere occupazionali dei loro figli (e nipoti). La ricerca ha previsto la raccolta dei dati riguardanti questi effetti e è stata orientata ad individuare i meccanismi sociali da essi generati.

EN The overall objective of the research study, funded under the 2008 Call for Scientific Research of the Piedmont Region, is to create a systematic comparison between the large wave of internal migration of the past (mostly from southern Italy) and the recent foreign migrations in Piedmont, in order to shed light on the processes of integration of migrant families and, in particular, of the ‘second generations’. The research project assumes that migration is a long-term process that brings with it many effects not only on the lives of individuals but also on the educational and occupational careers of their children (and grandchildren). The investigation included the collection of data on these effects and tried to identify the social mechanisms that they generate.
